Decoded Information
What is a VIN?
A Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is a unique 17-character code assigned to every vehicle. It serves as the vehicle's fingerprint, containing information about the manufacturer, model year, place of manufacture, and more.
VINs were standardized in 1981 by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Every car, truck, motorcycle, and trailer manufactured since then has a unique VIN.
